Ripensando la realtà

Milan, Dep Art Gallery

march 2025 - 17 may 2025

Dep Art Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition “Valerio Adami Rethinking Reality”, curated by Lorenzo Madaro. Artworks from the 1970s to the 2000s will be on display, alternating between travel scenes and paintings in which the artist rethinks lived reality, such as the majestic painting “Mnemosine machine à écrire et violon” from 1987.

The exhibition, opening on the occasion of Museo City Milano, includes a special section, created in collaboration with the Archivio Valerio Adami, and shows some of the artist’s private moments and his passion for travelling, especially for boats.

L'arte del sogno

Milan, Ambrosiana Art Gallery

November 27, 2024 - January 31, 2025

From November 27, 2024 to January 31, 2025, the Ambrosiana Art Gallery presents “Valerio Adami. The Art of Dreaming”, an anthological exhibition dedicated to one of the most influential artists of our time. Curated by Andrea Poleschi and accompanied by a critical text by Rossella Farinotti, the exhibition includes about fifty works by Adami, from 1968 to the most recent works of 2024.

The theme of the dream is explored through a variety of visual and symbolic elements, inviting the viewer to reflect on the relationship between reality and imagination. Adami's works, characterized by sinuous lines and intense colors, present themselves as enigmas to be deciphered.
After the success of the recent retrospective at Palazzo Reale in Milan, Andrea Poleschi feels the need to re-examine Adami's work, proposing a selection of works that dialogue with each other, all dedicated to the dream. A bilingual catalogue (Italian-English) is planned with all the works on display.

Narrations 2020-24

Brussels, Templon Gallery

November 7 - December 21, 2024

Valerio Adami presents in Brussels a series of introspective and touching works created over the last four years. This exhibition offers an immersion in the artist's universe, where scenes of everyday life intertwine with various literary and artistic tributes.

The bright colors contrast with the apparent melancholy of his characters, and the themes of the works, sometimes crepuscular, address issues such as the finitude of man. Marked by the influence of his readings, his paintings challenge the laws of perspective, multiplying planes and vanishing points. From these complex compositions, Adami tries to bring out a "philosophical questioning of the verb". "I am a painter of representation", he explains, "every figure you see carries within itself a symbolism, a bit like a speech that never ends".
